Nadene Mairesse, from Florence-based design studio Idyllwilde, will introduce you to several stitching and mending techniques such as sashiko, patching, and darning during this workshop in the North Floor Gallery. After practicing stitches on a linen sampler, you will learn how to patch, mend, or merely embellish your well-loved denim garment. Mending our clothes, as opposed to throwing them out, is one simple way to practice sustainability; it is also a really enjoyable way to spend the afternoon amongst friends! Please bring one garment for mending— all other materials will be provided. Recommended size of repair not to exceed two (2) sq. inches Note: You are welcome to bring patching material of your choice. Nadene will provide fabric patches for those that don’t bring their own. There is a minimum of three students for this workshop and a maximum of ten. The workshop will take place in our North Floor Gallery. There are no refunds on workshops. Please register by Thursday, January 18. For questions or more information, please contact Amy Mayfield at amymayfield@lowemill.net .
